Almost every idea begins with a problem. Mine was simple, furniture these days is garbage. Everything is made fast and cheap. Subpar materials and weak joinery. Nothing lasts anymore, and spending money on something that is going to degrade or fall apart doesn’t seem logical. Aside from that, you typically have to assemble the piece yourself once you get it home.

In my parents’ living room there is a rocking chair that was built by my great-grandfather. It is, and always has been, a used piece of furniture. So why is this chair still in such great condition? Well, unlike furniture today, it was made to last. If you ever look at antique furniture, and I’m talking about hundreds of years old kind of furniture, you’ll know what I mean. Each component is made from solid wood construction, uses traditional joinery techniques, and is hand-rubbed with high-quality, long-lasting finishes. The craftsman put a lot of pride into their work, and it shows.

It is my goal to follow in the footsteps of those before me and make furniture that is timeless and will last. I want the furniture that I make to be passed down from generation to generation just like my great-grandfather’s rocking chair. How? I will only use the best available materials and practice the same techniques that have been proven to last. Over the years, I have learned a lot from my father and I intend to continue to learn in an effort to provide the best quality product possible. Furniture that I can be proud of, and that the consumer will cherish forever.
